Marines are required to wear protective masks during
a
mock conflict using paintball rounds. The Marines are armed with
nine-millimeter marking cartridges called simunition (SIM)
rounds which are from the Special Effects Small-Armed
Munitions System. This training is part of the Mojave
Viper Urban Centralized Training at Marine Air Ground

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif.
- Marines
unload, show and clear their weapons after a simulated
training scenario of clearing a house of insurgents
at the Stu Segal Production Studio facilities
in San Diego. The Marines with 3rd Light Armored
Reconnaissance Battalion were armed with paintball
ammunition when clearing the building, as were the

Marines from 2nd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion,
3rd Marine Regiment, set up a stack in order to move
further down the hall towards role-playing insurgent
fighters at Marine Corps Training Area
Bellows, Hawaii. Three waves of platoons swept through
the building containing the three role playing Marines
during the exercise. The blue barrels of the rifles
signify that the Marines are using simunition rounds,

Santa
Rita, Guam (Apr. 8, 2005) - A student assigned to Mobile
Security Squadron Seven (MSS-7), charges forward during
a "force-on-force" combat exercise using paintball
equipment. MSS-7, a forward deployed unit homeported on
the U.S. territory of Guam, puts new members through an
8-week Basic Skills Course, which culminates in their
final exam on graduation day in which the students run
though seven different scenarios. MSS-7 makes use of the
old Orote Airfield, a World War II-era airfield now used
